About
In September of 2010 we set out on the adventure of a lifetime, leaving our comfortable lives and home in Minnesota to spend 8 months as caretakers of a remote homestead near the tiny village of False Pass, AK. It was a truly amazing and singular experience, chronicled in our last blog North to Alaska . After returning home in May 2011 and spending a wonderful Minnesota summer with dear friends and family we again have the opportunity to return to Alaska, this time to Juneau. This will be a more traditional relocation with Pierre having secured an engineering job in Juneau. While our everyday life won’t be quite the adventure it was at Stonewall Place, we look forward to sharing this new experience with you!
“Whale Burps” are perfectly round, prickly balls that look like balls of straw and are found on beaches all over the world. ”Whale Burps” are not produced by whales. They usually are made of vegetation such as sea grass or dune grass, mixed with other materials such as fishing line, snail egg cases from tidepools, pine needles, bits of seaweed, woody twigs, or other detritus.
